Openers All Finish 5-1

The League season got underway with the opening matches all finishing 5-1. Aughton A captain Rob Radford was disappointed with his Aughton A sides performance against Our Ladys B where they won a number of tight frames and were flattered by the final result. J Clements 35 & 26 and Rob Radford 22 were amongst the bnreaks here whilst Mark Winkley recorded an excellent win against Dave O'Hara to earn Our Ladys a point. The first ever Northern derby went the way of the A team with Tom Mortimore on form with a 32 break, John Kenny avoided the whitewash for Northern B. Ian Lindsay returned for Aughton Institute B where he recorded a 26 break and inspired his team to a win at Our Ladys A. Dan Mycek was the winner for the hosts beating an unfortunate Dave Rimmer on the black, Dave had fought back from 20 down only to be thwarted by a lucky snooker on the pink. John Paul Sinclair looked to be in control of his frame 48 points ahead against Mark Rimmer with a few reds left however Mark got him in an awkward snooker and pulled back the deficit to win on the pink.

Everest Climbing Challenge

League secretary Mark Rimmer is part of a team at RSA Motability who are attempting to vertically climb the height of Everest (8,848m) at Awesome Walls in Liverpool. They are raising money for Whizz-Kidz and each team member will have to climb a 40 foot wall an average of 30 times in a single session. If you would like to sponsor him for a very worthwhile cause then please follow this link.
