Northern Secure First League Win

Congratulations to Northern Club who recorded their first ever League victory in the latest round of Formby Timber championship matches. The win against Ince was a close affair with all of Northern's frames being sealed on the black or pink balls. Stand out performances for Northern came from Tim April and Ben Earnshaw who beat Terry Barlow and Shaun Catterall respectively. Formby Club B extended their lead at the top to 3 points with a comfortable win against struggling Aughton Institute B. Aughton Institute A maintained their challenge beating Formby Club A 5-1, Andy Jones on form here with breaks of 42, 27 & 22. It was a good week for Aintree Cons with Steve Bradshaw and Tom Mortimore claiming notable scalps in the League draw with Olympic who they then went on to beat 5-1 in the Joe Rigby Handicap League where they remain in touch with the leaders. Our Ladys A needed two black ball wins to see off their B team 4-2, Ian Knowles putting in a good shift in this one.

January Meeting

Venues for team competition semi-finals have been decided and draws for the quarter finals of the Clare Cup and Crystal Fires Handicap and draws for the last 16 of the Tower Heating Pairs, Mike Blundell Veterans and Sunburst Delegates competitions are available on the website. A reminder that captains should inform the opposition captain at the start of the match if they are likely to be short of players and that there should be no more than 15 minutes break of play between frames. Refreshments should be taken at the end of the match unless mutually agreed by both captains.

Olympic Bowling Club Dress Code

Smart jeans and trainers are now allowed to be worn but they still have the minimum requirement of a collared shirt or t-shirt. Can I ask everyone that we respect the club rules. Thank you.
